Getting started

Mitup runs entirely as a private conversation with you. Unlike other bots, it doesn't need to be added to your group. It works without any group context or permissions.

Open @mitupbot and tap Start to begin the chat. Mitup then asks for your timezone, and once that's set the main menu appears.

Set your timezone

You'll be greeted with a message to set your timezone:

Let's start by setting your timezone. Send me the name of your city or, for a more accurate result, your location by pressing on 📎 and selecting Location.

Important: we do not store your location and this information is only used to configure your timezone.

You can set your timezone two ways:

  1. Send your city name
  2. Share your location via Telegram

Mitup needs this because meetings have dates and times, and reminders go out in your local timezone. Ensuring everyone's timezone is set means everyone sees the same meeting time, regardless of where they are.

Privacy notice

We don't store the location you send during timezone setup. We use it only to look up your timezone, then discard the location. See the Privacy page for details on what Mitup stores.

You have to set your timezone before anything else: the main menu only appears once it's set. After that, you'll see the menu and can start using Mitup.
