Limits and Host perks¶
Mitup is free to use, and a few limits keep it that way: every meeting and every participant is a row in a database someone has to pay for. The caps are wide enough that a normal plan with friends never meets them. If you run something bigger, backing Mitup on Patreon raises or removes them.
The people who back Mitup are called Hosts, and each tier maps to a set of limits:
| Free and Brewer | Gamemaster | Commissioner | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Active meetings you own | 5 | 50 | Unlimited |
| How far ahead you can schedule | 90 days | 365 days | No limit |
| Participants per meeting | 20 | No cap | No cap |
| A meeting with no date stays active | 90 days | 365 days | 365 days |
| A finished meeting is kept | 90 days | 365 days | 365 days |
The Brewer tier is a pure thank-you: it comes with the badge and the Hosts-only group, and keeps the same limits as a free account.
Active meetings¶
You can own up to 5 active meetings at once. Meetings you joined don't count, only the ones you created, and neither do inactive ones sitting in 💾 Your past meetings. The cap is checked when you create a meeting and when you reactivate an inactive one:
At the cap
You've reached your limit of 5 active meetings. Wrap up or delete one to start another, or tap Collaborate in the main menu to support Mitup and unlock more.
A meeting leaves the count as soon as it becomes inactive, so letting a finished meeting close out (see meeting lifecycle) frees the slot on its own.
Scheduling ahead¶
A meeting's start date can be up to 90 days out. Pick a date past that and the bot asks for an earlier one:
Too far out
You can schedule meetings up to 90 days ahead for now. Pick an earlier date, or tap Collaborate in the main menu to support Mitup and schedule further out.
Gamemasters can schedule up to a year ahead, and Commissioners as far as they like.
Participants per meeting¶
A free meeting holds up to 20 participants, even when you leave the participant limit open. Setting an explicit limit above 20 isn't possible either:
Over the capacity
Free meetings can host up to 20 participants. Set a lower limit, or tap Collaborate in the main menu to support Mitup and host more.
Once a meeting is full, further joins go to the waiting list when it's on, or are turned away when it's off. Gamemaster and Commissioner meetings have no participant cap at all.
Nobody gets kicked out
If a meeting is already over a cap, everyone on the list stays. That can happen when a Host tier lapses. The meeting simply reads as full until it drops back under the cap.
Meetings with no date¶
A meeting with no date stays active so you can add one later, and nothing else will ever finish it, so it gets a clock of its own: 90 days on a free or Brewer account, a year for Gamemasters and Commissioners. The count runs from when you created the meeting, or from the last time you brought it back from 💾 Your past meetings. When it runs out the meeting becomes inactive and moves into that list, where you can reactivate it.
How long a finished meeting is kept¶
An inactive meeting sits in 💾 Your past meetings for 90 days, or a year on the Gamemaster and Commissioner tiers, and is then deleted permanently. A week before that the bot sends you one heads-up with a button to bring the meeting back. The meeting lifecycle page follows the whole path.
The tier you're on right now decides
Both of those windows are measured against your current tier, not the one you were on when the meeting was created. Become a Gamemaster and the finished meetings you already have stretch to a year. If your support lapses, they go back to 90 days.
How long one meeting can last¶
A meeting can span a week at most, from its start to its end. That one is the same on every account, Commissioners included. Set an end further out and the bot asks for a closer one:
Longer than a week
A meeting can last a week at most. Set an end within a week of the start.
For an all-weekend trip or a three-day tournament, one meeting covers it. For something that runs longer, make a meeting per session.
The timeout grace period¶
Your ⌛ Timeout is how long a meeting stays active after it finishes, five minutes by default. You can stretch it up to a day (1440 minutes), enough to keep a meeting up through the day after it ended. A longer number is turned down, on every tier. See Your settings.
Raising the limits¶
Back Mitup on Patreon and link your account through ♥ Collaborate in the main menu. The higher limits switch on automatically, no matter whether you pledge first or link first. The supporting Mitup page covers the tiers and how linking works.
Hosts-only group¶
Every Host, from Brewer up, gets a seat in a private Telegram group. Open ♥ Collaborate and tap the button to send a join request. It's approved for active Hosts and declined otherwise. If your support lapses you're removed from the group, and regaining it lets you rejoin from the same screen. The supporting Mitup page has the full walkthrough.
