Meeting settings

Every meeting has a handful of on/off options that change how it behaves: who can join, who can bring friends, and whether the guest list is visible. These are separate from a meeting's content. The title, the date and time, the location, the participants, and the meeting's language are what the meeting is. The options on this page are how it acts.

Four of them live on a meeting's own settings screen. Open a meeting, tap ✏️ Edit, then ⚙️ Settings, and flip whichever ones you want.

Waiting list

When the meeting fills up, extra people don't get turned away. They join a queue instead, and as spots free up they move into the participant list automatically, in the order they arrived. With this off, once the meeting is full, extra people are turned away.

Public

A public meeting can travel. Once it's posted into a chat, anyone there can re-share it onward into their own chats, and it can turn up when people search for meetings through the bot. With it off, the meeting only reaches the chats you post it in yourself.

Open invitations

This lets the people who joined bring others along. A participant can invite a friend, including a friend who isn't on Telegram at all. With this off there's no Invite button, so only you decide who's in.

Incognito

The shared card normally lists who's coming. Turn on incognito and the card shows just the headcount instead, keeping names off the public view. As the owner you still see the full list on your own copy.

Lock on start

Lock on start freezes the guest list while the meeting is happening, so nobody joins or leaves once it is underway. You can turn it on as soon as the meeting has a start time. If you also set an end time, the freeze covers that window and lifts at the end. With a start time and no end time, the freeze begins at the start and stays on indefinitely, until you turn the lock off or the meeting goes inactive.

You set lock on start under 🕒 When, next to the start and end times, once a start time exists. The other four options live on the settings screen.

Default options

Your personal Default options, in your own settings, pick what every new meeting you create starts with. If you almost always run public meetings with a waiting list, set that once and every new meeting begins that way. It's only a starting point. You can still change any option on an individual meeting afterwards, and changing your defaults never touches meetings you already made.
